The Calgary Elementary School Math Contest is a math competition sponsored by Mount Royal University and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. It is made for grade 4, 5, and 6 students attending elementary school in Calgary and surrounding areas. The contest is written by the participants in their own school, supervised by teachers in the school, and marked by the organizers of the contest.
The goal of the contest is to encourage interest in mathematics. It is important to know that this is not an examination. There is no passing or failing grade. We believe that all students who have prepared for and participated in the contest will enjoy themselves and benefit from the experience.
Last year’s contest was extremely successful, with almost 2000 students participating. In the words of one grade 6 student: “It was an amazing experience and helped me get up to standards of Calgary, Alberta and eventually the whole world. I think it’s a great opportunity for everyone who participated.”
The registration form should be filled and sent electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before Wednesday March 22, 2017.
Mailing of materials will begin in early April 2017.
The contest will be held on Wednesday April 26, 2017.
