SAMRU and MRU Library, working with the support of the MRU Bookstore, have entered into a jointly funded pilot project to purchase high demand, high cost textbooks and place them on reserve in the Library. This joint venture helps students save money, while ensuring wide access to needed textbooks.
To learn what we have on reserve for your courses, visit the Library website homepage, choose the Click here for the traditional catalogue search and select the course reserve tab.
September 23 -28, 2013 is Right to Know Week in Canada. This annual event raises awareness of an individual’s right to access information held by public bodies and the benefits of a transparent government.
To celebrate, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta will be hosting two one day forums, with a number of speakers highlighting and discussing ideas, concepts and challenges in making information accessible.
There is no charge to attend, but it is best to reserve your seats as space is limited:
Edmonton, September 24
Calgary, September 26

Firstly welcome back to both new and returning students and faculty! As university patrons, you probably agree it is important to know how to navigate your campus library and library resources.
To help you in this process, we will be offering free drop-in library tours and mini-workshops. The workshops will provide instructions on how to find books and articles, how to download one of the thousands of ebooks we have available to you and how to use Google Scholar. The sessions will be held over the next few weeks, there is no need to register.
Since we know that many of you are very busy, some of our staff have put together a fabulous online guide to using MRU Library. You can even take a virtual tour of the library and do so from the comfort of your own home. To access this guide and calendar of tour and mini-session dates and times, please click on the following link:
