Dr. Robert Rouse from the University of British Columbia is our speaker for Monday, February 26, at 4:30 pm in the Ideas Visualization Lounge. He will be presenting his talk, There Be Dragons: Medieval Ecology and Empire Off the Map”
Dr. Rouse’s research is primarily concerned with medieval romance (both Arthurian and non-Arthurian), writing on issues of historiography (in particular post-conquest perceptions of the Anglo-Saxon Past), English national identity, saracens and other medieval others, the law, the medieval erotic, the medieval geographical imagination, and ecocritical approaches to premodern texts. He has published three books and numerous articles on medieval literature and culture, and is currently completing a book on the Medieval Geographical Imagination.
