Service Interruptions

Ebook access advisory for April 26

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 one of our major ebook providers will be upgrading their ebook platform. Other libraries who have already had this upgrade reported no disruptions at all, but we wanted to provide this advisory notice just in case we do experience some disruption during the maintenance period, scheduled to start around 12pm and continuing for part of the afternoon.

HTTP Status 500 error – under investigation

Users are seeing an “HTTP Status 500” error when attempting to access certain articles via the Library search. This issue is caused by a problem at one of our external services and is affecting dozens of libraries — it is not unique to MRU. The service has acknowledged the issue.

Please try your search in one of the dedicated article databases available in the full A-Z list or organized by subject guide. You can still search and access specific journals by title or use the citation linker if you have details about a specific article.

Library Database Outage

Access to articles through the library’s databases may be briefly unavailable April 20 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm while we perform server maintenance.

Sorry for any inconvenience

New Google Login Screen

Starting April 10, 2017 Google is beginning a phased rollout of a new login screen.

This new login will remove the option to ‘stay signed in’ and instead will default to that setting.

The University is recommending that all students, staff and faculty remember to log out of Google (chrome browser, gmail, drive) before logging out of public use computers. This includes computers in the library, laptops borrowed from Circulation and computers in the labs. Please see the following blog post from ITS Security for more information:
