ADHD in Post-Secondary

Assessing Readiness for Post-Secondary

The transition to post-secondary education often means adjusting to increased learning demands and finding ways to manage in a less structured school setting. What worked well enough to manage ADHD in high school may not work well enough in this new context. It can be a challenge accepting that what you are doing is no longer working. Have you thought about what it might take to be successful in completing a post-secondary education? Have you created a plan for success? Review your readiness for post-secondary with our Self-Assessment Readiness Inventory.  If you answer “yes” to all of the questions, you will hopefully exit the inventory with a good feeling about the plan you have in place. Whenever you answer “no” to the statements in the inventory, you will be given:

1. Some things to think about as you develop your plan for success

2. Possibly resources that could help you make a plan for a successful semester.

ADHD has to be understood in context and the demands of a post-secondary education are particularly challenging. Once you have reviewed the Self-Assessment Readiness Inventory, please check out the Toolkit: Transitioning to Post-Secondary for Students with ADHD published by the Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada (CADDAC).
