Managing Working Memory Difficulties

When we consider what we mean by “attention,” we soon see that working memory is implicated. Working memory is the memory system that allows for both storage and processing. We can quickly see how being able to hold information so that we can work with it, includes and requires control of our attention. Although people with ADHD experience different symptoms to a different extent, many can relate to the challenges that result from problems with working memory.

Author Ari Tuckman (also mentioned in the page on the What is ADHD: Executive Functioning page) has recently published a workbook that directly addresses the various executive functioning difficulties. Take a look at the free chapter on Working Memory from this book. He describes many strategies for managing the difficulties that trouble with working memory can create.
