I had a very productive meeting this morning with our graphics designer Courtney, our DFS student Nicole and our marketing guru James to plan changes to our web site myshakespeare.ca.
We are planning to make sure it is up to date, interactive and full of interesting facts about your Shakespeare in the Park.
As always, I welcome your thoughts and ideas on how we can improve on what we do.
And don’t forget to become a Facebook fan of Shakespeare in the Park.
Please stay tuned for some exciting announcements as our 2010 season approaches.

See you in the Park.

School Tour

SITP will be touring our production of Shakeapeare’s in Love this fall and winter to Calgary highshools.
Stop #1 will be at Central Memorial November 9 and 10.

Plans are in the preliminary stages to erect a permanent covered structure at Prince’s Island to house our productions. If successful we won’t have to cancel anymore shows because of weather and I can stop my obsession with the Weather Network!
Stay tuned for updates as we move along. I’m hoping to have this in place for our 2010 season.

Well, summer is officially over as our 2009 season has come to an end. Its hard to believe especially as the weather right now is very summery. Where was it during July and August?!
Despite having to cancel almost 30% of our season due to inclement weather (Snow in August?), I was very pleased with the quality of work and the amazingly positive reaction from our audience. With the weather finally cooperating during the last week, we were playing to over 700 people a night! It was absolutely thrilling to watch your reponse each night to R and J and Dream.
A big thankyou to our most generous and faithful audience, our very talented group of artists, our very efficient office staff and to Mount Royal for its continued and much appreciated support.
I will conntinue to share my thoughts with you through out the off season.
Stay tuned for some excititng anouncements in the months to come leading up to season number 23 as Calgary’s Public Theatre. And please use this blog to share your thoughts with me.
Till next time,
Martie

Just a friendly reminder about our Saturday matinee of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 2:30 tomorrow. The weather looks great so come and sit in the sunshine and enjoy Dream.
See you there

Only 3 More Days

August 20, 2009 | | Leave a Comment

As the 2009 season begins to wind down, the office staff is quietly putting things in storage. But down at the park, we are awaiting a beautiful weekend to finish the season in sunshine.
I look forward to seeing you join us for the final three days of our Shakespeare festival.
On Tuesday we played Shakespeare’s in Love to a very large and enthusiastic crowd at the Parkland Community Centre. “Shakespeare in Parkland ” was a huge hit.
Thanks to all who made this possible.

For the first time in SITP’s 22-year history, we are adding matinee performances to our season. You are invited down to Prince’s Island Park at 2:30pm on August 22, to enjoy a beautiful Saturday afternoon and a special matinee performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

If you have missed us because of the weather, this is an extra opportunity to see a production Louis Hobson calls “Pure nonsense, but a great deal of fun”. Hobson also feels, “There are so many wonderful comic touches in these workmen scenes that it would be necessary to see the show several times to catch them all.”
If you are not able to make the Saturday Matinee show, the weather for this week looks great. Each evening performance begins at 7:00 pm.

See you at the Park,

Martie
