It is officially mid-semester and the Triad mentor team wants you to know that if you’re struggling with what to do in your Triad or need help in any way, we are here for you!

Ask a Triad Mentor to take your Triad out for coffee for your next meeting.

To arrange, please send an email to jmyoung(at)mtroyal.ca with the name of your Triad members and the time of your next meeting.  Please give us at least one week’s notice.

Sincerely,

Your Triad Mentors

Articles

The article that started it all! Here’s the article Mardy Roberts found that provided the genesis of triading. If you’d like to read it, Margy MacMillan has a copy:

Galm, John A.. Welcome to Post-Tenure Review. College Teaching; v33 n2 p65-67 Spr 1985.
A series of five self-study seminars, held by eight full professors of an English department for the purpose of post-tenure review and resulting in professional renewal and improved peer relationships, is described and discussed.

Louie, Belinda Y, et al.
Advancing the Scholarship of Teaching Through Collaborative Self-Study
The Journal of Higher Education – Volume 74, Number 2, March/April 2003, pp. 150-171
Self-study research is a mode of scholarly inquiry in which teachers examine their beliefs and actions as educators and explore pedagogical questions. A three-phase model of collaborative self-study research is offered as a framework for university faculty to engage in self-study for the purpose of improving teaching and creating new knowledge.

Believing Is Seeing: The Influence of Beliefs and Expectations on Posttenure Review in One State System

The Review of Higher Education – Volume 27, Number 1, Fall 2003, pp. 17-43
This study examines the influence of beliefs and expectations on the first year implementation of posttenure review in one state system. The findings indicate that beliefs and expectations concerning posttenure review’s origins, purposes, and usefulness, strongly influenced participants’ experience of the process, as well as posttenure review’s impact on professional development, performance, and retirement decisions.
