Snow Removal from the Parkade (November 9, 2014)

“The snow on November 9th deposited 10 to 15 centimeters of snow on the parkade roof.  Grounds staff used a Bobcat to pile the snow prior to using our new Superchute ‘snow chute’ to push the snow into a waiting a tandem truck.  Approximately 25 trucks were filled over the course of three and half hours of work.  The snow chute which is new this year saved around 20 person hours of labour in its first use.  The snow is not taken offsite.  It is piled behind the Grounds Building or on what is commonly known as Woods Lake which is part of the 100 year flood plan situated on the MRU Campus.”

That’s a lot of snow and working on top of the parkade is made more difficult in that it is completely exposed to the elements.  Hats off to the Grounds crew!   For more information on Superchute products – please visit – http://www.superchute.com/new/Chutes/snowchute.html
