First year UEO and feeling very confused
Question: I am a first year student in UEO, and I am very confused on the classes I should register for and when that registration opens and closes. I am not sure which courses I should take in preparation for next year and I am not sure who I can further speak to about my problem. Thank you!
Answer:
I can remember that feeling of confusion myself in my first year of uni and there was no UEO and other ways of embarking on a university education to complicate matters. Even when you get information sent to you, it is sometimes difficult to know what information is important when. As a counsellor, I am limited in knowing how to proceed with your question and so I went to the experts. Here is the answer I got and I think it covers where to get answers to every part of your question. So my thanks to Advising for the following response:
Shortly after you accepted your offer for UEO, you would have received an email with the subject “Mount Royal University – new UEO student advising”. This email includes a link to your UEO Advising Guide, which details admission information and course recommendations based on your goal program.
Once you’ve reviewed your UEO Advising Guide and the UEO FAQ, if you still have additional questions, you may book a 30-minute advising appointment through the links on our website. Appointments are available up to one week in advance. You may choose to meet with the same advisor each time you come, but this is not required. If you are flexible about which advisor you meet with, you can check each calendar for the most convenient time.
Academic Advising also offers drop-in advising every Thursday in case you are having trouble scheduling an appointment. To access drop-in advising, come by D101 or call our office at 403.440.6222 on Thursdays.
I hope that helps! All the best in navigating these challenges.
