I Think I Need an Assessment
Assessment is done by comparing a person’s history and symptoms to criteria for diagnosis listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V). The extent to which symptoms interfere with relationships, work, or school are examined. In post-secondary settings, a diagnosis is required before a student is eligible to receive accommodation. It is also important for accessing financial aid to pay for learning strategists and other support services.
The diagnosis, treatment, and process of incorporating this new information into your life and identity, is a journey of many steps.
